REASON TO SMILE. Under them we mercilessly toiled, Our land their territory,they ruled, Hard labour and mistreatment was all we entailed, It wasn't long before our dreams sailed. They came in the name of exploring, Yet what they had in mind was torturing, Our weaknesses led to us suffering, So our heroes decided to put up the fight and started struggling. Maumau was formed and their memory still thrives, Women and children lost their lives, It was like we had struck the bee hives, Not forgetting the guerilla warfare during their strives. Home was no longer the safest place, We were up and about as if in a chase, If one saw another day,it was worth kneeling down and saying "The Grace", That kind of life made us not to know what we will face. Now we got another reason to smile, So we sit back and celebrate this day in style, Salute to the leaders that were with us all this while, Their brave deeds would be recorded in our brain's file.
